Stepping into the studio is the beginning of an experience designed with families in mind - it a place of intention, creativity, and warmth. Thoughtfully curated to feel both welcoming and refined, the studio is a place where you and your family can slow down, be present, and create something truly lasting. Every detail—from the natural light to the carefully selected backdrops and furniture—sets the stage for portraits that feel effortless but deeply meaningful.
My Approach
As a mother of two I know how important it is for your photoshoot to be as stress-free as possible. I focus on preparing families beforehand, consulting (if desired) on wardrobe, and reassuring you that I use gentle direction (especially with toddlers!). Your shoot is about connecting with your family and transforming fleeting moments into tangible works of art. With a calm, child-led approach, I aim for each session to unfold naturally (and quickly!). I try and balance each session between posed portraits and more playful, in-between moments, which isn’t hard when working with little ones.
After your session, you’ll return for a personalized reveal session, where you’ll see your images as beautiful fine art prints. Together we’ll decide what products you’d like to take home. Every product I’ve designed is crafted to be held, displayed, and cherished for generations.

A Warm Welcome
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted in a beautifully designed studio space, intentionally created to feel both inviting and inspiring. Take a moment to settle in, enjoy a refreshment, and let little ones explore their new surroundings at their own pace.

A Child-Led, Stress-Free Session
Alexa’s approach is gentle, patient, and entirely child-led. There is no rush—just space for natural interactions and authentic moments. With a calm, intuitive presence, she ensures the session unfolds in a way that feels effortless, allowing for both playful spontaneity and quiet, intimate portraits.

Thoughtful Styling & Background Selection
The session is structured to offer both variety and simplicity. You’ll begin by selecting the first background colour to complement your chosen first outfit (approx 15 minutes of shooting). When ready, you’ll transition to your second look paired with a second background selection for a maximum variety within a short timeframe.

Flexibility & Comfort
This time is yours. If a break is needed, whether to soothe a little one or simply pause and reset, the session will adjust accordingly. The goal is to create a relaxed, pressure-free experience where everyone feels at ease.

Capturing Every Essential Moment
Throughout the session, Alexa expertly balances direction with observation, ensuring each important moment is documented. Before wrapping up, she checks in to see if there’s anything else you’d like captured—so nothing is missed.

Proofing & Image Selection
Within 2-3 business days, you’ll receive a beautifully curated proofing gallery. From there, you will select your favourite images and we will schedule your intimate reveal session—a signature part of the experience—where we’ll discuss and select what prints will become heirloom products for your home.
Studio Details
Located in Nepean, Ontario, Alexa’s studio is designed for both comfort and convenience. Easily accessible on the first floor, it features an accessible washroom and on-site parking. Thoughtfully equipped for families, the space includes a change table, play mat, rolling wardrobe rack, and steamer for any last-minute touch-ups. And, of course, coffee!
Throughout the studio, heirloom portrait products are beautifully displayed—allowing you to see, feel, and imagine how your images will come to life for your home.
